Chain Grate Stoker

Chain Grate Stoker Introduction

The Chain Grate Stoker is one of the most commonly used mechanical combustion devices in organic heat carrier furnaces. It features a reasonable structure, reliable performance, and ease of installation. Widely used in industrial boilers, the chain grate stoker is primarily designed for burning solid fuels, such as coal, wood chips, and straw. Fuel is evenly transported into the furnace through the continuous movement of the chain grate, enabling uniform combustion.

With the growing application of organic heat carrier furnaces across various industries, our factory has developed a range of chain grate stokers specifically tailored for these systems. These products feature lightweight chain belt grates, optimized air distribution systems, enhanced side sealing, and well-designed front and rear arches.

  • Strong Combustion Adaptability: Capable of burning bituminous coal with a calorific value of around 18,840 kJ/kg and volatile matter exceeding 20%, as well as alternative fuels like wood blocks and bagasse.
  • Efficient and Reliable: These stokers demonstrate efficient ignition, uniform air distribution, and quick startup.

Chain Grate Stoker Working Principle

The chain grate stoker consists of components such as the coal hopper, base (with grate doors and air regulation devices), front and rear shaft assemblies, the grate mechanism, and inspection doors.

  1. Fuel is fed uniformly onto the grate via a feeding system.
  2. The moving grate transports the fuel slowly into the combustion chamber.
  3. The air required for combustion is supplied from underneath the grate.
  4. As the grate moves forward, the fuel undergoes four stages: drying, ignition, combustion, and burnout.
  5. The ash is discharged at the rear of the grate.

Even with zoned air distribution, the gas composition above the fuel bed may vary. Excess air may occur at the edges, while a reducing zone is likely in the center, producing combustible gases and fly ash that should be fully burned in the furnace.

Chain Grate Stoker Advantages

  • High Automation: Continuous movement of the grate automates fuel feeding and combustion.
  • Efficient Combustion: Extended combustion time on the grate ensures high thermal efficiency.
  • Versatile Fuel Compatibility: Can burn a variety of solid fuels, including blocks and pellets.
  • Simple Structure and Maintenance: Designed for easy upkeep and repairs.

Using Chain Grate Stoker for Egg Tray Drying

While primarily used for fuel combustion in industrial boilers, the chain grate stoker can be an efficient and stable heat source for egg tray drying under certain conditions.

As a Heat Source

  • The heat generated by the chain grate stoker can be transferred to egg tray drying equipment via a heat exchanger (e.g., a hot air furnace or steam system).
  • Compatible fuels include coal, biomass pellets, and wood chips, providing cost-effective and ample heat sources.
  • Indirect heating ensures that combustion pollutants do not directly contact the egg trays, preserving product quality.

Supporting Drying Chambers

The chain grate stoker can supply heat to drying chambers in large-scale egg tray production lines. It can be paired with multi-layer metal drying systems for efficient, continuous drying.

Advantages in Egg Tray Machine Applications

Energy Efficiency: High combustion efficiency provides stable heat output, ideal for egg tray production requiring prolonged and substantial heat.

Low Operational Costs: Utilizes low-cost fuels, reducing production expenses.

Scalability: Adequate heat supply meets the demands of large-scale production lines.

Considerations for Use

  1. Pollution Control: Emissions and ash require proper dust removal and waste gas treatment systems to meet environmental regulations.
  2. Indirect Heating: Heat exchangers should be used to prevent combustion gases from contaminating the egg trays.
  3. Fuel Choice: Cleaner fuels like biomass pellets minimize environmental impact.

Coal (Biomass) Hot Air Furnace for Direct and Indirect Heating

Direct Heating

Combustion generates purified hot air for direct contact with materials during drying or roasting. Uses solid fuels such as coal or biomass, consuming approximately half the fuel compared to indirect heating.

Indirect Heating

Suitable for materials requiring low-temperature or contamination-free drying, such as pharmaceuticals or fine chemicals. Heat carriers like steam or thermal oil transfer heat to air via heat exchangers.

Chain grate stokers provide an efficient and cost-effective heat source for egg tray drying, especially in large-scale production lines. With proper design and auxiliary systems, they can support efficient and environmentally friendly egg tray production. For optimal integration, it is recommended to assess the production scale and environmental compliance requirements.
